Students working out in the fitness center in the residence hall

Health and wellness

Education is only part of the equation.

Health and wellness are important to us! SUNY Adirondack's goal is to increase everyone's quality of life.

Our Fitness Center in the Residence Hall is a comfortable, modern gym featuring the latest workout equipment. Students have access to group exercise sessions and fitness events as well. Sessions and equipment aside, our fitness environment is safe and welcoming. SUNY Adirondack encourages our entire campus community to work toward healthier lifestyle choices.

Around campus, you will find wellness spaces — indoors and out — to meditate, socialize, relax and move.

Special programs are geared to help you become the best, healthiest version of yourself. We see education as a holistic journey that includes physical, emotional, social, spiritual and academic wellness.

Free on-campus counseling and free/low-cost health care are available and encouraged. Wellness kiosks with up-to-date information and supplies are found in every building on campus, to ensure you have access to what you need for a happy, healthy educational experience.

Behavioral Intervention Team

How to report

SUNY Adirondack's Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) aims to identify students whose behavioral patterns have raised concern about their well-being; centralize communication to gain a more complete understanding of the whole individual student; and develop a proactive and collaborative outreach plan to address identified risks. The BIT team's followup plan includes reviewing cases until the person referred is assessed at a mild level of risk. The BIT team is composed of a multidisciplinary group including the dean for Student Affairs, the associate vice president for Academic Affairs, two Counseling faculty, assistant director of Public Safety, director of Residence Life and director of Accessibility Services.
