TRIO SSS

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program that provides services to help eligible students — based on income, first-generation college student status, academic needs, or physical and developmental disabilities — succeed in earning a degree. As a TRIO student, you will receive support services to help you succeed at SUNY Adirondack.
Benefits of TRIO SSS
  • Tutoring, which might include instruction in reading, writing, study skills, mathematics, science and other subjects;
  • Dedicated advisor to provide individualized counseling and support;
  • Advice and assistance in post-secondary course selection;
  • Assistance in researching financial aid programs, benefits and scholarships;
  • Help completing financial aid applications (including FAFSA and TAP);
  • Workshops on personal development, career exploration, financial literacy and study skills;
  • Career and transfer counseling, including industry visits and internships;
  • Four college site visits annually for students interested in transferring to a bachelor's degree program;
  • Access to textbook lending library, laptops, graphing calculators, photography cameras and C pens
Eligibility requirements

To receive assistance, students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a program of postsecondary education at a grantee institution. Low-income students who are first-generation college students and students with disabilities evidencing academic need are eligible to participate in SSS projects. Two-thirds of the participants in any SSS project must be both from lower-income families AND first-generation college students, based on U.S. Department of Education guidelines.
