ASAP

To be eligible for ASAP, all students must:

• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen (NYS DREAM Act students also eligible)
• Be eligible for in-state tuition
• Be a full-time student in a degree program (minimum 12 credits per semester)
• Complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) applications
• Receive at least $1 of federal Pell or NYS grant aid (TAP or Excelsior)
• Actively participate in all mandatory ASAP activities, including  academic advisement, career development workshops and other program-specific services designed to support academic and personal growth
• Take any required remedial courses immediately upon enrollment
• Must have previously earned no more than 21 credits applicable to their proposed program of study (excluding any earned while in high school) and hold a minimum 2.0 GPA if already matriculated and applying to ASAP

Cost of attendance award 

• Students receive an annual award divided across the Fall and Spring semesters of up to $400. These funds are designated for the non-tuition components of the cost of attendance after all other federal and state financial aid has been applied. This award is intended to offset the full cost of college attendance beyond tuition such as room/board and  personal needs. 

Transportation/monthly stipend 

• Students enrolled in SUNY ASAP are provided with a monthly stipend of $50, up to $400 annually, to assist with transportation or other necessary monthly expenses. 

Textbook stipend 

• Each student receives a $150 textbook stipend per semester, up to $300 annually, to offset the costs of textbooks and instructional materials.
