Posthumous Policy

It may be requested of the College that academic recognition be bestowed posthumously to a deceased student who did not complete degree requirements. To initiate the process, the deceased student’s family or significant other, or a SUNY Adirondack faculty or staff member-- with family or significant other agreement-- may request this recognition through the Office of the Registrar.  The Registrar will review the request, make a recommendation, and forward it on to the Vice President for approval.

To be eligible for this college recognition, a deceased student who, at the time of termination of study, was pursuing an associate’s degree or certificate, and was in good college standing, shall normally have completed no fewer than 75% of the credits needed for graduation, with a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or higher.
